Telling Traces Wine’s Story in Seconds

Showcasing Alcohol Content, Calories, and Sustainability through bold, dynamic visuals designed to educate, inspire, and scale.

Traces Wine needed to highlight their unique selling points—Alcohol Content, Calories, and Sustainability (A, C, S)—while educating the UK market, where awareness of sustainable wines is limited. The goal was to deliver an engaging message within 20 seconds while creating scalable assets for future content.

We created one 18-second video and three 7-second cut-downs, delivered in vertical and horizontal formats. By designing 3D digital twins of all bottles, the assets allowed for future updates. Using a frame-by-frame animated storyboard, we streamlined client approvals and integrated innovative techniques, like off-screen reflections, to enhance realism.

The client’s expectations were exceeded, earning a 10/10 rating. Initially planning to use one concept, the client incorporated all three due to their impact. The final videos clearly communicated the brand’s values, positioning Traces Wine as a leader in the UK sustainable wine market.

Inspiration: Our research process was extensive, pulling from multiple references. We decided to treat every wine like a mini project with its own concept. We then worked to find ways to transition smoothly from one scene to the other.

Concept: We were so excited about the project that we jumped right into the animation. Instead of the traditional storyboard, we went with hand-drawn frame-by-frame animations that we presented to the client. Those animated storyboards helped Traces visualize our ideas better and see them come to life.

Simulation: For the liquid simulation, we used liquigen, which was great for filling up the shape of the number 78. We used Cinema 4D to create the swirling wine around the bottle and then composited them all in After Effects using warping and morphing tools.
